Luxury High Street Retail
On July 19 the City of Sydney granted approval for the revitalisation of adjacent buildings at 345 and 363 George Street, and heritage-listed 24 York Street. Our distinct advantage of being in the heart of the CBD is soon to be enhanced by the creation of a new precinct with a major centralised lobby and new luxury high street retail.
Sydney Light Rail
The NSW Government continues to build the $1.6 billion light rail to travel from Circular Quay down George Street, with two branches ending in Kensington and Randwick.
This major project will return 40% of George Street back to pedestrians, with modern trams running every 2 minutes during peak hour.
The video shows how these plans will revitalise the George Street precinct.
George Street History
Since the early days of the Sydney colony George Street was the original high street and continues to be one of the busiest streets in the centre of Sydney.
An electric tramway ran along George Street for 60 years before being replaced by buses in 1959 and this slice of George Street history is revealed in the video.
